Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their own food.

In this process, they need:

  • water
  • mineral salts (they are disolves in the soil)
  • sun light
  • carbon dioxide (CO2)

In this process they obtain:

  • sugar (glusoce) which is the energy they need

In this process, they release:

  • oxygen (O2) that other living things need for breathing

The photosynthesis takes place in the leaves.

In the leaves there is chlorophyl. Chlorophyl helps plants to make a chemical reaction and transfors water, CO2 and mineral salts into sugar.

Revisa la fotosíntesis para que te quede bien claro:

1.- The roots take water and mineral salts from the soil.
2.- The leaves take carbon dioxide (CO2) and sunlight.
3.- Chlorophyll is in the leaves. It transform water and sunlight into sugar.
4.- The plant releases oxygen (O2).
5.- The plant uses: water, mineral salt, CO2 and sunlight.
